Came across a beautiful way of wrapper class for sessions
Usually in ASP.NET sessions are used a lot and the session name (key) is used in multiple places. Its difficult to keep a track of which all sessions (keys) are used in the application. I came across a nice way to solve this problem and make your application cleaner. Please go to following link and search for class SessionHandler in it (its around the middle of the thread). Though the post is for ASP.NET MVC this particular class can be applied for your ASP.NET apps also. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/915470/asp-net-mvc-session-vs-global-vs-cacheFor each session define a property and then read and set sessions in a strongly typed way! |

Found a good doctor in Pune for kidney stones
My wife was in great pain due to kidney stones and we first went to AMAI's hospital in Erandwane run by Dr Paithankar. The first interest of the doctors there seemed to be in getting her admited (not difficult to guess why). We were not satisfied there. We then went to Dr. Shivadeo Bapat, who is also referred to as Dr. Senior Bapat. His clinic is opposite Kamala Nehru Park and phone numbers are 2567 2310, 2567 3900. We are so far quite happy with the treatment he has given. So for those living in Pune I think he is worth going to. For those having stones which are small here are the tips we got- 1. Drink lots of water 2. Keep an active life style- getting enough exercise 3. Go some exercise like skipping so that the stones move and come out! 4. Get a sonography done once a year to check if any stone is getting too big |

Basic areas to focus on if you intend to get into web development
If you want to learn web technologies then here are some basic areas to improve your knowledge in. This should help starters/freshers who already are into computers but want some guidance. Main aim is to improve your basics and fundamentals. So the areas are- Databases1. What are tables, indexes (indicies)- primary key and foreign key etc.. 2. Should be able to design table structure for given requirement- I can send you sample requirements if you like 3. Writing select, insert and delete statements (DML) 4. Should have good command over writing different select queries Web technologies1. HTML- a) should know basic structure of an html page- the various sections like title, script, style, body etc.. b) know basic html tags like table, form, all the html controls - textbox (input box), file, drop down etc.. c) should know what styles are and what css is. Should be able to write simple css styling 2. JavaScript- a) should understand what it is, why and where it is used. b) should have basic knowledge of its syntax so that can write simple/moderate JavaScript functions. Need not know everything- just the basics 3. Basics of web- where is websites hosted and concept of client (browser) and server, what are the major browsers available Learning the above is ofcourse an on-going process in the sense that even experts in the field learn more about the topics. But for started they should I think be able to cover this in about a month or two by spending few hours daily on it. After this you can go into mastering some technology like .NET or Java so that you can write good web and other type of applications |

Solution For "ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into error when text field is assigned empty string"
This bug is quite frustrating, especially for those used to programming in Microsoft .NET and using Microsoft SQL Server. Here is an extract from the post COOL - Bugs: bug #22381, Oracle treats empty string...- Oracle treats empty string "" as NULL. This is a branch off COOL bug #22369.
This is a fact: in Oracle's own words, "Oracle Database currently treats a character value with a length of zero as null. However, this may not continue to be true in future releases, and Oracle recommends that you do not treat empty strings the same as nulls."
Apparently however this statement has been the same for several years, and it is unlikely that this will change any time soon.
The solution we used in our project is that before saving to database we replaced empty string "" by a single space " ". In the same way, before displaying replace " " by "". Other option could be to make these fields as nullable in the database and then handle nulls (which are not as difficult as it seems). |

guidelines for web development
Many organizations in the Netherlands follow these guidelines which are internationally recognized and have been listed here by the dutch government. The validators like validator.w3.org just check on technical errors. Besides that these guidelines must be followed There are guidelines for web development http://www.webrichtlijnen.nl/english/For projects/ webdevelopment the order of priority to comply with is: 1) specifications by client 2) current / existing approach followed by client 3) guidelines described on http://www.webrichtlijnen.nl/english/and the validator.w3.org must give zero errors. so we must acknowledge ourselves with these very well. src : From our company owner Mr. Marco |

Garden Court resturant Pune- disappointing
I visted this resturant yesterday with my family. We were very excited about going there and were planning about it for long. I had been there many years back and remembered the great views of the city that are got. Our visit turned out to be a total anti-climax. Almost everything disappointed us. The reasons being-
- The prices were VERY high- higher than many of the upper end resturants in Pune. For example, Veg Spring rolls were Rs130, Veg Hakka Noddles was Rs 135, Butter Nan was Rs40, the curry we ordered was Cheese Balls Masala was Rs 160.
- service was very ordinary- the waiters weren't couteous enough, no hand wash bowls given after dinner etc.. This was especially disappointing considering the price
- The food was spicy. We specifically asked to be given not even medium but very mild food. Even the pring rolls were spicy. When we pointed this out to them they were not ready to accept it- they said that spring rolls are never spicy- well these ones were. And not just me but our entire family found it so. Infact, we did not even eat it fully and there were few pieces left in the end
- Due to some big buildings which have come up near by the views are no longer that good. They are yet not bad though.
- While leaving I asked if they had any feedback form- they had none
